Abba Gold for Guitar and Piano, 17 Jan 2003
Abba Gold by Matt Sanders fender57red@yahoo.co.ukStrumming along to Abba? Haven't got all the chords right? Well, now thanks to this book you can! Bjorn and Benny wrote some superb songs and I often found there were chords I couldn't work out when playing along. I wish I'd had this book back in the 70's! The songs are easy to follow and the book is well laid out so if you have the Abba Gold CD it is quite easy to follow without too much flicking back and forth between pages. The arrangements of the songs are easy to follow for players who are familiar with basic music theory. Owing to the way Abba mixed their music you may find playing along that some tracks may sound slightly out of tune as they used to speed and slow them down parts of the recording but even playing an instrument following what's in the book against the Abba Videos or CD's(the critical test), the songs work. I've played along to many chrord books that are supposed to show the right chords in the right key and often are not! Some are so bad I don't know how they have the cheek to print them! In the case of the Abba Gold book I don't think you'll find these problems. This is by no means an 'Abba complete' but it covers many of their best songs. And if you've got the Gold Video and CD, this should keep you amused for hours! Bjorn and Benny are greatly underestimated as songwriters, but they are easily on a par with Lennon and McCartney.Their music stands the test of time. I recommend this book, just a shame it wasn't around in the 70's! Matt Sanders
