1885. Tolstoy is considered one of the greatest of all novelists. His collected works number 90 and critics regard "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina" as his two masterpieces. Following the publication of "Anna Karenina" Tolstoy's life had undergone a complete change. He entirely devoted himself to Christ's teaching. In "What I Believe" Tolstoy contrasts the teachings of Jesus to the dogma and practices of the Orthodox Church.
