5.0 out of 5 stars At last!!!, 27 Jun 2007
At last something to fill the gap for 8 or 9 year old plus boys who have been thoroughly put off reading by woefully dreary reading schemes enforced by unimaginative teachers (don't even get me started)!

These books may not be great literature but they encourage an understanding of plot structure and narrative within a rolliking story that few boys will resist. They are FUN, they are EXCITING..The vocabulary is fairly ambitious - some 8 year olds will struggle a bit, but the books can easily be shared reading. The real point here is that they will be clamouring for the whole series - even if just to collect the "free" trump cards and for news on the website. This sort of interaction might seem a cheap ploy, but these books are of a different level to most "tie in" type books, where an interactive element is common.

It fulfils every boy's fantasy and does so within reasonable limits of taste and integrity - quite an achievement!

If you know boys who collect yu-gi-oh but won't read, here's your solution.
