Product Description

Product Description

Skye Colby - she's the multi-pierced Goth girl hanging around the internet cafes; always out at odd hours in strange places. All the boys call her slut puppy; the girls wrinkle their snub noses in distaste. Some people think she's brilliant, others say she's unstable. Skye is all those things, and more...So why has she singled out Matt for special attention? Matt works hard at being invisible and can't understand why Skye is interested in him. Clearly, she has a dangerous agenda, but how can Matt resist the mystery and drama Skye trails in her wake? Despite warnings from people at school, Matt is totally mesmerised by Skye - she promises a way out of his dreary existence - but at what price?

4.0 out of 5 stars Utterly Marmite - you'll love it or you'll hate it, 31 Oct 2008
By GothBabe07 (England) - See all my reviews
I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this on a whim... my personal opinion is that it's pure marmite - you'll either love it or hate it. The main characters, Matt and Skye, while entertaining, are unsympathetic and even a little unbelieveable. They behave erratically - one moment they've decided to do one thing, the next moment they're off doing the total opposite. Yet, somehow, this was part of what made me like this book. It's unpredictable. It has a million-and-one twists and turns, mostly involving the behaviour of Skye, the slutty and somewhat mentally troubled Goth girl, who has chosen Matt, the shy, nerdy guy, for a secret mission. She spends most of the book messing with poor Matt's mind, whilst her conflicted life seems to eat away at her own sanity, leading to a strikingly memorable showdown with a cliffhanger ending. The writing style is genius, and was what kept me hooked throughout the whole thing. You'll never know what to believe.
Would recommend for 14+ readers who like something a little different.
