Product Description

Product Description

December 2001: Vince McMahon steps out of a snowy night into a diner in upstate New York for a meeting with old friend Phil Thomson, now a highly placed government official. Thomson has a strange proposition: creating a new covert black-ops group using the Superstars of World Wrestling Entertainment. The WWE's talented men and women are perfect. Highly skilled athletes with the ideal cover, they travel all across the country and the globe; no one would find it unusual to find them in a town one day and gone the next. The government would train and support the wrestlers in every way possible except one: no one must know the truth. March 2006: The Superstars have been handed their latest assignment - take down a commercial-grade methyl-amphetamine plant that is bankrolling terrorist activities in Europe. Their mission seems simple and straightforward, until a member of their team is taken prisoner. Now all that they've worked so hard for is in jeopardy, and one of their own might be killed...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice for a fan, decent for the rest, 26 Sep 2006
By Georgios Balopitas "Scrooge" (Athens, Greece) - See all my reviews

The Big Apple Takedown is basically a decent spy novel. Don't expect Ian Fleming quality of course, but it is not crap either. The use of WWE Superstars as the main cast of characters is a nice twist that will appeal very much to the fans, but generally will add nothing more to the plot.
A nice thing is that the Superstars' profile is approached in a more personal level. They are the normal people that are behind the cameras, and they do not use their WWE personas in the book (Thank god, because it would be a disaster! Imagine for example John Cena using his Hip-Hop persona trying to mingle in a high class restaurant: "Yo dog! Da doctor of thuganomics is in da house! Bring me the fn' menu!".... disaster...)

Anyway, generally a decent novel. You will read it easily, enjoy it thoroughly but after that it will just collect dust on your bookself.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!, 12 Jul 2006

This an awesome book with a truely brilliant storyline.
The superstars work well together for the NSA with superstars like Chavo, Triple H, John Cena, Torrie Wilson, Batista, Stone cold Steve Austin and of course Vince McMahon.
a great read for any WWE Fan.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Would you believe it?, 19 Mar 2007
By L. Hay "Saturnicus" (Scotland) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Behind the circus of World Wrestling Entertainment there lurks undercover agents, who pass unsuspected from place to place because they are also pro-wrestlers. WWE's answer to Jamee Bond is none other than Triple H - surprise! surprise! And M turns out to be none other than Vince (St.Vince) McMahon. Chavo G. in a computer wizard, Batista a rookie and when the chips are down Stone Cold races to the rescue to whip (...)3:16 style.
What more could you ask for, except Taker, for a good bedtime read that doesn't want to be taken too seriously. Not exactly a literary masterpiece but enjoyable enough if you are a fan, as I am, and can forgive Vince most anything even if it means producing books like this in his endless pursuit of the fast buck.
Let's have more please, Vinnie - with Taker.
