5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended For Readers of Any Age, 3 Feb 2005
Sabine Muir's "Matthew and the Highland Rescue: The Time Gate Series" is a new wonderful adventure in children's literature. Every so often a children's book comes along, we adults enjoy reading. This was one of those books. This book not only entertains but also teaches as three children in 2005 are transported to an 11th century tale. Sabine Muir entertains both young and old in her book and I highly recommend it to readers of any age. I look forward to reading more works by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars A heart warming read for everyone., 28 Jan 2005

(REAL NAME)
Sabine Muir has captured the essence of childhood pondering. 'Matthew and The Highland Rescue,' delves into adventure as no other juvenile novel has yet to broach. Muir has brought back a wholesome feeling as Matthew questions if God really listens to him.

Her imagery is excellent, set in 2005 as three children are transported to 11th century. Her factual information not only teaches, it entertains as well. The plot expands as the lead character Matthew finds the two things most dear to his heart then transported back to current times. This novel will delight, surprise, and captivate all readers.

Winner: Elizabeth Hazley

Dear Ailsa,

I have just read 'Matthew and the Highland Rescue' by Sabine Muir.
I think you would enjoy this book because it will bring back memories of Ballater to you. Do you remember Sabine who works in our library? Well, she is the author.
It is a wonderful story about a boy called Matthew who comes up from London to Deeside to spend a holiday with his cousin, Rory.
Rory's dad takes them on a fishing trip to Loch Kinord and tells them a story about the Island in the Loch.
Next morning, Matthew, Rory and his sister, Morag, cross over to the island and are transported back in time to the 11th century.
They meet Queen Margaret and her husband, King Malcolm III and learn about life back then.
You will really love this book but I hope it will not make you too homesick especially when you read about Ballater School and the Braemar Gathering.
I think your Mum and Dad will enjoy it too.
Lots of love,
Elizabeth. X

P.S. Please let me know what you think of the book.
