Unveiling the 'Messenger of Fire', 28 Dec 2004
Unveiling the Messenger of Fire Messenger of Fire; By Sunmade Adeyemi; PUBLISHAMERICA, LLLP, Baltimore; 2004 By Bridget Chiedu-Onochie Messenger of Fire, a book written by Sunmade Adeyemi is a story about an angel by name Azreal who incarnated into human to enable him perform two major tasks - to disseminate information concerning the impending 'Great Revolution' and a grand deception scheme perpetuated by the Devil to deceive and annihilate human race. The second job is to destroy certain creatures known, according to the author, as 'clones'. These clones are not humans but embodiments of fallen angels who claim to have certain powers that created the human race The story, which is told in a first-person narrative technique comes through the use of Dictaphone, revealing a lot of truths and unravelling several mysteries. During the course of the story telling, several obstacles are encountered. These came from some creatures whose attempt to disrupt the revelation failed since they lack superior power to tell the story. The book comes in an attractive cover page, displaying a bright pigmentation, which has a corresponding matching colour inscribing the title of the book. The artistic endeavour of the cover page, without a doubt, compliment the message in the text. Messenger of Fire is devoid of the conventional order of writing for it bears only a brief acknowledgement, which is succeeded by the first chapter. Stretching across 122 pages, the book is divided into 40 chapters. The boredom, which could have resulted from the compartmentalisation was covered by the short and precise nature of the chapters. This style highly enhances the book and renders it more readable. The title of the book best illustrates the subject matter for it is the battle between the biblical 'Mighty Man in Battle' and the fallen beast notoriously known as the Devil. It could be best described as the 'bible made easy,' for it goes beyond Genesis to Revelation to educate readers on certain topics and subject that were previously presented in riddles and proverbs. These include the symbolism of the apple that sent Adam and Eve packing from the beautiful Garden of Eden. For those still ignorant of the factor leading to the present day tribulations and the perennial activities prevalent on the surface of the earth today, the author has a vivid account of the tragic bang on earth of Satan the devil. The initial chapters of the book leave readers with the knowledge of the Father being in existence before time began and the creation of the Hosts of heaven, their original designation including that of Lucifer, the head of the sinning ministry. It goes further to reveal the subsequent nefarious activities of Lucifer; his disobedience to the Father, which led to the Great War in heaven and the fight that relinquished him of his once glorious post. The author also informed of Michael who automatically stepped into his shoes after his exit from the heavenly abode. The relationship between the first couple and the Father and how they were disintegrated because of the forbidden apple brought about by Eve's intimacy with the devil is further explained in this Biblical novel. Readers were taken back to the good old days when God, the father pay regular visit to the earth; how he always hold Adam by hand and takes him through journeys round the earth. This account leaves observers with the nostalgia of live in the beautiful garden just as one would obviously blame Eve for the misfortune that has befallen the son of man today. Sunmade in his own explanation asserts that out of curiosity, Eve embarked on a journey without her partner where she encountered the Tempter and immediately fell victim of his trick. Ever since then, iniquities had taken over the earth for there has been contamination of both good and evil in that single act of disobedience. Ironically, God walked away from them but assigned a guardian angel to them to prevent them from total destruction designed by the Devil. The book also compares the intimacy that exist among today's couple with the unconditional love enjoyed by the first couple before their fall. To further enhance the beauty of the work is the elaborate use of music as a comic relief. This occasional employment of spirit lifting songs is very necessary in a work of this magnitude Speaking about the incessant evil and multiplication of iniquity which characterises the present generation, the author once again attribute it to the great love the Father lavishes on the children; but stresses that it is only for a time limit after which every transgression will be adequately remunerated accordingly. Man is given the privilege to choose between good and evil right from the early beginning. This freewill has always been abused and consequently, the flood wiped out the direct generation of Adam and Eve. The author described these early lawless and disobedient beings as giants some of who later turned themselves to gods to be worshipped. On page 62 of the book, the author referred to the bulk of Greek mythological heroes and gods as based on the existence of these giants that walked and stalked the earth, such gods include Zeus and Apollo of the Greeks and Romans. These objects of worships astounded and fascinated those who were fully human demanding allegiance from them. This messenger of fire in his soul-inspiring story once again reminds the readers of the ultimate prize later paid for man to be free from the entanglement of sin. Having known the great suffering attached to such ransom, he chose to leave his Heavenly throne willingly; was made flesh for the payment for the offence he never committed; yet, man refused to embrace the immeasurable, unconditional and astonishingly wonderful love. Also painful is that most men doubt the existence of God, attributing their own existence and creation to some scientists claim of man originating from the explosion that occurred at the very beginning, the author argued. At any rate, the book serves as a total explanation of the scripture. The author digressed from the usual manner of evangelism to offer this unique information that will enable man discover some hidden machinations of the devil, giving clues of their symptoms and how not to fall victims. The activity of the Messenger of Fire is a sure security for the God fearing for He guards them all in everything they do. The book is almost free from typographical and grammatical errors. The language is also accessible. © 2003 - 2004 @ Guardian Newspapers Limited (All Rights Reserved).
