Product Description

Product Description

It begins in Geneva. There American lawyer Joel Converse meets a man he hasn't seen in twenty years, a covert operative who dies violently at his feet, whispering words that hand Converse a staggering legacy of death: 'The generals ... they're back ... Aquitaine!' Suddenly Converse is running for his life, alone with the world's most shattering secret. Pursued by anonymous executioners to the darkest corners of Europe, he is forced to play a game of survival by blood-rules he thought he'd long left behind. And only Converse, and the woman he once loved and lost, can wrest the world from the iron grasp of Aquitaine...

4.0 out of 5 stars An exhausting chase around Europe!, 25 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Joel Converse gets mixed up in something far deeper than he expected. Everything he touches goes wrong, every way he turns another door closes. You are left thinking he has no way out, no way to stop the bad guys, no-one to trust. It is a book I was annoyed when other parts of my life got in the way and I had to put it down. Another Ludlum cracker.

4.0 out of 5 stars A MUST read, 25 Nov 2004
I have just finished reading Aguitaine Progression. Quite a large book (760 pages long) but well worth reading it. The plot is a bit complicated in the beginning, too many names and places, but it has so many twists and unexpected events that it just keeps you going. Basically it is a story of a lawyer who gets himself in the middle of a difficult situation against people who want to rule the world (that's it, putting it in a nutshell, how he tries to find out who the good guys and who the bad guys are and how he manages to get himself out of the difficult situations he keeps getting in. Very good writting.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of Ludlum's better, 2 May 2006

This is an ancient book (1980's) still going strong. Why some authors keep on being reprinted is not always easily understood, but in Ludlum's case, this is fairly straightforward.

When Joel Converse meets up with his old friend/aquaintance, Avery Fowler (now known as Preston Halliday), his life is turned upside down. He is recruited into the battle against something known as Aquitaine when Pres/Avery dies in his arms.

From that murder on, his life is in great danger as he seeks to discover the identity of the people behind Aquitaine along with trying to destroy their attempt to take over the world. Joel soon finds himself pretty much alone in this fight, being hounded by police in many countries along with the people in the Aquitaine group. Allies are found in unlikely places, but so, too, are enemies.

The plot is fairly straightforward and Ludlumish. Enjoy! I certainly did.
