4.0 out of 5 stars How to heal a broken wing, 17 Mar 2009

This is a beautiful, sensitive and emotional book. The pictures are stunning, often telling the story alone, and always adding a deeper meaning to the text. The care and kindness throughout the book, attributed to such a young child, amongst others, says such a lot about valuing our younger generation. The ending is a cliff hanger and the children in my class were much divided about how they felt about the final page. I would recommend this book to anyone, young or old. I read it to my 4 year old grandson and to my 80 year old mum to equal delight. A book that will live with me forever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as his other books, 12 Oct 2009

I bought this for my 3 year old because we loved his other book 'Oscars half birthday' and because it had a rave review from another customer but I have to say I was disappointed.
The illustrations are as wonderful as ever and the main story idea is charming but it just doesn't hold his attention as well as his other titles. There is very little text relying on lots of 'padding' from mom and dad and at bedtime...well it can be a bit weary. Maybe better for older children who 'get' the meaning...bit too deep for 3 year olds with tired moms.
