Product Description

Product Description

A small wooden elephant is gathering dust in an old house, dreaming of a white palace, when he's flung into an adventure and finds himself helping three children: Sara, a shy young musician, Nita, who has something to prove, and Jack, who's angry with his mum's new boyfriend...Leaving happiness in his wake - and making several small whiskery friends along the way - the elephant goes on a magical journey across continents, and finally fulfils his own dream.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, heart-warming story for all you elephant fanatics, 3 May 2007
This is a beautifully-written novel which children will love. Although I am way beyond the intended reader-age, I couldn't put it down. It would also read aloud well. Excellent for elephant fanatics, would-be conservationists and people who want to travel to India by book. Most important of all,`The Third Elephant' is perfect for those who just want a good story. The novel interweaves the lives of Sara, Nita, Jack, and the little Third Elephant himself. Look out for a surprise appearance at the end....

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful story, well written, 9 Mar 2008
By H.P. "kidsbooklover" (Nottinghamshire, UK) - See all my reviews
The Third Elephant should be in every KS2 classroom. It's a beautiful story with all the ingredients of a classic children's book. We start with a neglected wooden elephant that is taken on a long journey through various encounters with endearing but troubled characters. I felt for poor Jack, the little boy having to get used to his mum's new partner.
Highly recommended - it would make a great story to read out loud in the classroom for 8/9 year olds.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book to share, 26 May 2007
By Jane Clancy (Lancashire) - See all my reviews
I shared this book with a class of year 5 children and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the tale of this little elephant as it was taken on a journey of self discovery and the effect it had on the lives of those it touched. The book gave us so much to talk about and has provided much food for thought and posibilties for linking in to other topics. It's one I'm sure we will never forget and will come back to time and time again.
