Having found Zita West's second book 'Fertility & Conception' extremely useful when we were planning a baby (highly recommended), as soon as I got pregnant I couldn't wait to get hold of this book as I trust Zita's advice and wanted to make sure I was doing the best for my unborn baby. However, I found that there was a lot of material in this new book which had already been covered in 'Fertility & Conception' - the relevant stuff for pregnancy doesn't begin until about page 40, before that it's information on... fertility and conception. Reading on, I then found that again there seemed to be some repetition from her first book 'Natural Pregnancy' - the stuff about windows of opportunity (i.e. when to eat the right things for your baby's optimum development), although I think that this book is possibly more up to date?
So, all in all, this book is lovely to look at with nice pictures, and I do trust the information, but I have to say that I felt that there wasn't much 'new' in there. The book is called 'Babycare before Birth' but there is quite a lot on life after birth in there, too, so all in all the pregnancy section isn't THAT long.
Another book I'd recommend for mums-to-be is Sarah Brewer's Super Baby - it is a bit OTT and daunting in places, but some of her ideas, such as playing music to your baby while it's in the womb, are interesting. I am not sure how up to date her book is, as the copy I have was published in 1998.

This is a good book for 1st time mums. It gives all of the info that you need to get your head around having a baby! The week by week guide as to what is happening is really great.
