I have no experience of other DK Eyewitness Travel Guides but this one leaves a something to be desired! I bought it in the hope that as well as being an informative and up-to-date travel guide it would be a nice reminder of my holiday in Sicily. The layout of the book is very attractive and at first glance, it does seem to be informative. Unfortunately, in reality it contains a number of frustrating mistakes. It was almost like the person who did the research got the information second hand and failed to take notes accurately. I was very disappointed that the book did not manage to deliver the goods that it seemed to promise!

This book enhanced our first visit to the island a hundred fold. The sections on Mount Etna and its surroundings and history are some of the best features of the book and make fascinating reading in their own right. There is so much to see and do on Sicily and this book makes the choice of where and when to go during a finite holiday all the much easier. As an unusual English holiday destination (English people are still treated as a novelty on Sicily) the sections on the food and way of life (Travellers Needs) are vital reading for anyone considering a trip to this beatiful island.
