Product Description

Ruth May has a new hobby: chickens. And she is completely hooked! She starts out with just two, but in no time at all, she has 16 chickens to cuddle and count, morning, noon and night. Ruth May is deliriously happy, but the chickens . . . well, that's a different matter. Fed up to the back beak with being cuddled and coddled, they escape to the park and teach Ruth May an important lesson. If you really love something, you have to set it free . . . and that applies to chickens too!

About the Author

Simon Puttock goes from strength to strength. A former bookseller, Simon has been a full-time writer for over three years and has swiftly established himself as an exciting new voice in children's publishing. His first book for Macmillan, MADEMOISELLE GORILLA (ISBN 1405020342) was illustrated by Nicola Slater and was swiftly followed by his first collaboration with Ross Collins – WILD-WEST WINNIE (ISBN 1405034505), a comic story of love in the Wild West.

It's over ten years since Ross Collins won the Macmillan Prize for Illustration, and he has since become a well-known illustrator with many best-selling books to his name. His witty illustrations perfectly capture the humour of Simon Puttock's text.
