'This wonderfully enjoyable tale of three friends in Ireland is definitely worth reading.' --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

In the Irish village of Burnaby, life is about to change for three very different women. Molly Harper is the manager of Ireland's only dedicated romance bookshop - 'Happily Ever After'. She can't stand Milo Jones, the super-smooth new owner but he does have a rather attractive son, Sam. When Milo decides he wants to change the bookshop into a highbrow literary one, Molly, with the help of her friends, must fight back if she wants to save the store. Her best friend, Paige Brady, local County Councillor and member of the popular 'Happily Ever After Book Club' has problems of her own. She has just launched a general election campaign and is astonished when another woman, Annette Higgins, starts to attack her in a very personal way, resorting to all kinds of dirty tricks to knock her opponent out of the running. But Paige is determined to stay in the race. Can you judge a man by the shoes they wear? Kate Bowan, another Book Club afficionado, and Molly's housemate thinks so. Shop assistant in the trendy Burnaby designer shoe shop, 'Baroque' by day, she runs the popular dummy dating service 'Test-Crash Dates' by night. But one particular client is proving to be more than a handful. But a

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 2 Aug 2005
This review is from: It Had To Be You (Paperback)
I have thoroughly enjoyed all Sarah Webb's previous novels but I'm afraid I was disappointed with this one. It seemed as if it had been written "by numbers" and therefore the characters did not come alive for me. Also, I found the ending to be abrupt, as if the author had run out of time and simply tied up the loose ends without really thinking about them.
Having said that, I will still probably read her next book because her past record has been so good.

2.0 out of 5 stars Get real - this is not a good book, 10 May 2008
By Janie U (England) - See all my reviews

This review is from: It Had to Be You (Paperback)
To begin with the book is filled with grammatical errors and even a few spelling mistakes which is bad service from the publisher.
I was attracted to the book and thought it might be entertaining as 2 of the main characters have my fantasy jobs - working in a book shop and working in a shoe shop (don't fancy being a councillor though!!)
This is yet another Irish Chick Lit book - the whole format of which is becoming far too often repeated - I like the chick lit format and I like the Irish small town lifestyle but the two are put together far too often.
The story telling is very simplistic which makes the book incredibly easy to read and it passes the time of day but it won't challenge the reader in any way and it is easy to forget about as soon as you put it down
The plot is very predictable and some of the characters are very cliched (although a few are very good - I particularly liked Molly). One character I found very badly drawn was Callum as his behaviour seemed to vary from being that of a 3 year old to that of a 15 year old in the space of a few pages.
All this said I did read it through and it was OK but no more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming Read and Highly Recommended, 12 Jan 2006
By Bernie (Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: It Had To Be You (Paperback)
Sarah Webb has done it again - a charming book written with warmth and humour. Set in a bookshop called Happily Ever After, it's the story of 3 very different friends. One's a young mother, Paige, a politician who's trying to juggle everything, one's a single bookseller, Molly who's looking for love, and Kate's been unlucky in love and has a history behind her.
It's easy to read and a real treat after a long day. Great for holidays too. Can't wait till Sarah's next book. 5 stars!
