Forget about the Lonely Planet and Rough Guide books when backpacking. I took this book and the the Rough Guide with me and the Rough Guide soon got left behind for more space in my backpack. This guide provides an excellent up to date review of accomodation, events and things to do that are aimed at people on a budget. It has maps for anywhere that your average gap year student might go in europe as well as some you might not expect. It gives honest accounts of towns and countries that have come from other travellers(but ignore what it says about Monte Carlo as it is worth visiting) to help you get the most out of your trip. It does give some quite comical generalisations about people of each nationality, but this is the only fault that I could find with it.

A must for the backpacker/budget traveller, Let's Go Europe offers an invaluable insight into the majority of major European towns/cities, in an honest, informal manner.

Includes prices of hotels/campsites, where and what to eat/drink, how to get there etc.

I have used this book whilst travelling round Europe this summer, and found it informative and totally frank, whilst being funny and unbiased.

Although this book is written by and aimed at the American audience, I will definitely buy another of the Let's Go series on my travels fom the UK next year!

This book revealed itself essential for reserving hostels and for getting around several places across Europe. I'd deffinately recommend it for anybody who is planning on going on an Interrail.
