5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect., 16 Jun 2008

The only book you will ever need to read in order to unravel the illusion of being a victim. This book will empower you, by revealing that the only person blocking you-is you...but you knew that really. Barefoot is pure love; compassionate, honest, challenging, enormously respectful of the reader. I am carrying this book around with me and letting the nectar within infiltrate my bones.

2.0 out of 5 stars On first reading - not his best, 4 Jun 2008
By Dr Rudi (Australia) - See all my reviews
I'll declare my hand and say I'm a big fan of Barefoot. I have most of the books, the music CD, and both DVDs. On the whole this book is probably the least accessible - which isn't necessarily the book's fault, or Barefoot's. And in fairness, Barefoot states plainly that this book is not a light read, and not for lazy minds. All his usual ideas and techniques are here - on my first reading I'm not sure I identified anything genuinely new - but they don't seem to be presented with the usual clarity. It's an almost stilted delivery - lots of short sentences - and the chapters / topics are for the most part less than 3 pages long. It gives the appearance of being easy to read, but I'm not sure that's true. About the book: there are no page numbers, no contents page, no index, and all the printing is green - every second paragraph is in a 'bold' or dark green, the alternate a light green. If you have the other books, you probably don't need this one - in fact you'll probably be disappointed. I would usually devour Barefoot books - but this one hasn't been very "readable" - and I've got seven-eighths of the way through and am struggling to keep going - despite the short sentence structure, and short chapters. Barefoot is still a brick, despite my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doctor Feelgood, 21 Jun 2008
By R. Stone "devilsgrin" - See all my reviews

Despite one of the other reviews I found this book extremely easy to get into. Yes, I haven't finished it yet after getting it shortly after its release but this is down to taking it slow, savouring the messages and following the exercises.

What will this book do for you? No idea. Thats up to you. For me its been a transforming experience from the first time I picked it up, its almost been like a warm hug through some very difficult weeks. It arrived in my life as a two year relationship was breaking down and my job had become unbearable. He changed my perspective on life and kept me cheerful when I could have been weaping down the phone to all and sundry.

I can see why it might be argued that its not his most accessable book; the doc writes each one to get his message across in a slightly different way - via story in the wonderful "Twisted fables for twisted minds", a handbook in "Return of the Urban Warrior" and via powerful snippets in "Instant enlightenment,101 Blessings." In "Pure" its almost an essay on his take on taoism, and as he mentions a number of times, the basic message could be fitted on one page. Where would the fun be in that? And would the message be as fully integrated as "Pure" makes it?

Buy this book if you want to change your life (and maybe in seven days! Definately did for me and I'm still waiting for the McKenna book to kick in six years later lol). Enjoy your journey.
