5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant ending, 4 Nov 2006
By S. E. J. Dowling "suedo283" (County Durham, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
One of the things that has been bugging me about some authors lately is that they write a trilogy, but the first and/or second books, are not complete stories (such as Lirael/Abhorsen by garth Nix). This trilogy did not suffer from this, and is three great stories that combine to tell one big one.

The ending of this book particularly touched me. It showed me that here is an author that understood what was behind the ending of Tolkiens Lord of the Rings. It showed that the author understands and can communicate that 'the road goes ever on', and that things could not neatly go back to before the start of the story. This trilogy ranks high on my list of good fantasy stories.
