4.0 out of 5 stars NEVER JUDGE A BOOK, 4 April 2003
By NEIL JARVIS (Reading, England) - See all my reviews
Now on first sight, this may look like a reissue of a '60s comic, with it's intense, yet simplistic artwork. However, in a world where the short story is getting harder to find, here we have a book that shines. Original work by masters including Stephen King [this may well turn out to be the only source by which you'll find this story, as King's career is soon to finish] and Nick Hornby as peppered with some more mediocre offerings. Overall, a good read. We need more of this stuff in our shops.

4.0 out of 5 stars McSweeney's Mammoth Treasury of Thrilling Tales by Dave Eggers, Michael Chabon, 11 Oct 2009
This is a smashing book and I bought it to get my 9 year old son reading. It did the trick. It is the combination of it being made up of short stories and the great pictures.

I would definetly recommend it

3.0 out of 5 stars So..so Thrilling Tales, 28 Feb 2008
By T. Williams "Maranatha!" (North West, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This work is a bit of a mixed bag but I would recommend it nonetheless. it has been over a year since I read this book but if memory serves most of the short stories ranged from truly excellent to misguided. For me its a keeper and if you like pulp you could do worse.
