This is one of my favourite Philip K Dick books because it has an 'interactive' nature to it, his references to time travel and the nature of it get my mind thinking. In this book, however, not only do we have musings on time but the political implications of using it. The hub of the book is on race and the centuries of white Western-European / American supremacy - I do not want to go further as it would spoil a few things if you have not read the book.

In addition to this, Dick's writing style is crisp and plain, no florid stuff going on here. When he does venture into prose, however, we get gems like this

"She chuckled, a dry laugh, like leaves blowing in the wind. Dried up fallen leaves at nightfall"
