We recently went to Paris with our 2 children aged 4 and 7. We took this book with us (previous edition) and it was invaluable in finding places to go and things to do.We were only there for 5 days,but we could have spent a month or more and still not run out of ideas. Some of the prices turned out to be more than the book said, but presumably they will be more accurate in the new edition.Highly recommended.

I've just returned from Paris where we used this little guide - it's packed with ideas and good to use as a browsing tool the evening before you set off into town. Works well combined with City Walks With Kids to cover an age range. If you're choosing between the two, I'd say Around Paris With Kids is good for kids of eight upwards - a more cultural edge with lots of galleries etc. - whereas City Walks is more fun, esp. for younger kids (and in a sense that one is easier to use as it's card-based, so you only have to take the page you want). Around Paris With Kids could be improved with maps and colour (it's b/w), but to be fair it's less a 'where-is-it?' guide than a 'what's-interesting-about-it?'. It's a handy little tool to open up ideas and to spotlight the elements that kids are most likely to be interested in (for example, the entry on Musee D'Orsay talks about the big polar bear sculpture in the hall) so it's great if you want to drag them along on your (adult) agenda and need to do some persuasion! That said, there are plenty of kid-oriented ideas too. A very clear and easy index with cross-referencing really helps - so you can check which entries are about history, or include water, or whatever. Easy to read but feels a bit more directed at the long-suffering adults.
