5.0 out of 5 stars Nidemon, a worthy follow-up to Nomadin, 21 Nov 2005
By Stephen Westcott (Isle of Man) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Nidemon is Mr Cormier's second novel, and a worthy second in the series for Ilien and gang. In this story, Ilien must close a crossing that threatens the fabric of his world and, in the porcess, become that which he fears.

As with Nomadin, the writing is excellant, the flow and pace drawing the reader in and keeping them there. The subtle use of humour enhances the plot and comes across naturally. After all, we do not go through the day without laughing and joking a few times, so why should characters be any diferent? Although written for the YA market, adults will find enough in this story ro keep them entertained. As Phillip Pullman said in a recent interview, adults are turning to YA books because in them they find a good story written at a pace to make them want to turn the pages, whereas most books aimed at the adult market are too literate in that they overdo description and go for elaboration when good story telling would sufice.

In Nidemon you get a great story, well written, with an ending that leaves you wanting to read the third book in the series.

Nidemon is a more than worthy successor to Nomadin and I would heartily reccommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Sequel, 2 Mar 2006
By V. Sully - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a fantastic sequel to Nomadin and very hard to put down! I still find it hard to believe this is only Mr Cormier's second book as it is brilliantly written and keeps you hooked the entire way through.
The characters start to come into their own a little bit more in this book and you can easily imagine being with them on their journey. There are also some surprising twists that leave you absolutely dying for more! I loved this book and recommend it to absolutely everyone. Buy it, you'll regret it if you don't!
Overall a cracking good-read! I hope the next book is on its way as I am having to read both books again to fill up the time...

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended compelling read!, 10 Sep 2007
By Deborah Mayne "dollydebs" (West Sussex,UK) - See all my reviews

The second in the series and a perfect sequel to Nomadin.
Written in the fantasy genre, you wouldn't think there was much originality left for that arena but Mr Cormier has proved yet again that there are still magical tales to be told which will captivate readers of all ages.
A fast paced read which hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go till the end. This book is the middle one of a trilogy I believe and unlike some second books, is not a 'filler' story but a tale full of adventure, magic and believable characters which will satisfy the Nomadin fans and enrapture new readers.
Mr Cormier has not let us down but has in fact raised the bar for books in this genre!
I for one cannot wait for the release of Necromancer, the third book which is apparently due for release Summer 2007!
