5.0 out of 5 stars A must for anybody in theatre, 23 May 2004
By M. P. Roche (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
From directors to actors, from producers to writers; this book provides an invaluable insight into the essetial, 'need-to-know' aspects of the world of theatre. I defy anybody not to read it and keep saying to themselves 'how true'. The author captures all those nuggets of knowledge and presents them in a format which can be read from cover to cover, or dipped into as the need arises. Be warned though ... pick it up and you may not be able to put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic tips for directors, 30 Jul 2008
By Robert Callender (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Notes on Directing (Hardcover)
I'm part of a very prolific (20-odd shows a year) amateur theatre in London. This book has spread like wildfire among the people directing. I don't know anyone who doesn't think it's great. Our shows are just a great deal better thanks to this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Self-Help for drectors!, 25 May 2009
By Anne-marie Varberg (Denmark) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Notes on Directing (Hardcover)
This is probably the MOST amazing book on directing - at least that I have found.
The knowledge and advice is bitesize, and offers sparring and solid foundation to base your decision on.
It's a little like having a dramaturg on paper.

I recommend it to any director, experienced or not, it will offer you knowledge you haven't got.
