Popbot. Wow, what can say? I was recommended this book a few months back when i had just started getting back into comic books. It is described as a Post-modern take on the comic book genre and geez, they werent kidding!
The first thing you noticed when you get this book is that its not typical at all. Ashley Wood doesnt abuse inks like typical comic artists, and you wont find any Digital airbrushing either. Hell no, this isnt your ordinary comic, its a work of ART. You can practically feel the brush strokes, the imagery jumps from being dark, grimey and textured, to bold and graphic, i just cant fault the design!
The next thing that springs to mind is the insane and creative narative. It revolves around a rockstar cat, his Robot bodyguard(popbot), naked females pleasure bots, sherlock holmes and an Andy Warhol clone.
As a comic fan and an aspiring artist, this book has become my holy grail and i would go as far as to say this book has changed my life(my art direction).
People expecting the typical, crass marvel comicbook formula will be extremely shocked with this. Buy it, FREE YOUR MIND!
