This book is more than just a study of writing effective online copy; it tries to get you to understand the types of customers out there and what makes them tick. It explores the thought process of users arriving on your site and teaches you how to engage with them right from the off taking advantage of benefits over features of your product or service. They also explain what typically happens when a user arrives at your site and where best to position your content for maximum effect; this includes decent coverage on usability throughout the book as the authors understand that good copy is just one piece of the whole.

Of course they do teach you how to write effective and persuasive online copy exploring why verbs are more effective than nouns and how to make use of copy to constantly engage with your users in order to move the sales process along to a successful conclusion. There is also a study of the different types of writing styles available to you in order to help make that sale. An analysis of what makes us make a purchase (our emotions) is included so we can learn to write copy that takes advantage of this most crucial factor.

All in all this is a very good book that has opened my eyes and certainly helped me make my sites more productive.
