3.0 out of 5 stars Speed will blow your mind, 26 Aug 2001

Surely one of the most innovative uses of the graphic novel form I have encountered, NcNeil constantly and relentlessly flips your expectations on their head as you read. Whilst the plot may drift a little from your consciousness as you read, what really holds the attention in this book is characterisation. McNeil has an uncanny knack of presenting raw soul to her readers. It is a rare work in which a writer can present a world rooted in bizarre mythology which is to the reader both alien and frequently incomprehensible and yet simultaneously provide insight into our own world, and yet in Anvard, McNeil has accomplished just this. The truth of our world is hidden somewhere in these pages, if you are willing to find it... If you like your literature off the beaten track, then take the time to discover the world of the finders. It is truly unlike anything else you will encounter.
