1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money, 27 Aug 2003
By Ruth Scanlon (London, England) - See all my reviews
I can honestly say that this is the worst book I've ever read regarding this subject. My annoyance with the book was initially provoked when I read the sentence (in bold, centered in the middle of the page) "If it takes too long to reach orgasm, your lover may be a little bit disgusted." What sort of a message is that to send out? A negative one to say the very least, not to mention the pressure it places on the woman if she decides to believe that statement. I found D. Claire Hutchins (no, she's not a doctor, but tries to give the impression that she is one) to have strong feminist attitudes, and harped on about how women should take control, how women have always been hard done by as regards sex and how women were frowned upon for enjoying sex, how female masturbation used to be a taboo, etc, etc, etc... Although she is not incorrect in saying all these things, it's the 21st Century, these things are no longer issues for women. The majority of the book was devoted to these topics, and she seemed to take great delight in slagging off Freud. I didn't buy this book to read about him or how wrong he was. I can't believe she managed to write a whole book about an obvious 'formula' that could be summed up in one sentence: woman-on-top position + masturbation + fantasies = orgasm during intercourse. To me, the book seemed like a long lecture on being more assertive in bed, etc. Miss Hutchins makes the assumption that the reader is a shy, introverted female who still believes that sex is a sin unless it is used to procreate. Please, don't waste your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and Entertaining, 12 Mar 2001
By A Customer
Even though the "synopsis" for this book doesn't give much of a clue what it is about, I took a chance and purchased it based on the title. As it turns out, this book is written primarily for women (and their lovers) who have difficulty reaching orgasm during sex, who rely on oral sex or vibrators to have an orgasm, and who therefore do not enjoy the act of "intercourse." This book teaches a quick and simple answer for a woman who wants to have an orasm during intercourse. I appreciated the information. My boyfriend and I practiced using this technique and are pleased with the results. I've had orgasms before, but not during sex. Now I can enjoy an orgasm during intercourse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a Sex Manual, 18 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This book is not a sex manual, and it's not about learning different love making techniques. It is written by a non-specialist which shows women how to succeed in reaching orgasm during intercourse. But the author has done her research. I liked it because it encourages women to take control of their own sexual responses, and not wait for the perfect lover in order to enjoy orgasm during intecourse. I found it very helpful. But if you are very experienced, don't have difficulty reaching orgasm and just want to improve your sex life, buy something else. This book deals with a specific problem and gives a specific solution.
