5.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive and scientific reference 'bible' for ASD, 9 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Shaw's book is an excellent handbook giving advice and opportunities for anyone who is involved in the treatment of people with ASD (and other similar disorders). This is a scientifically biased book, which offers in-depth explanations of treatments and therapies which may be of benefit. It also explains the science and chemistry behind each option, and possible outcomes for each type of intervention. In my early days with my son, this book was my inspiration that Autism isn't the end of the world, it IS treatable. The book was my 'bible' for many months, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in treating ASD or related conditions.

3.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for doctors and science professionals, 26 Oct 2001
By mccrackin5@aol.com (Chester-le-Street, England) - See all my reviews
This is an excellent book for physicians and other professionals interested in the treatment of the mysterious disease of autism. As the parent of a highly functional autistic child I found it to be too scientific and not written for the average individual. Some of the scientific terms were difficult to decipher without further reference and became somewhat overwhelming.

I think the book is beneficial for parents to share with their physician who can decipher some of the terms for better understanding.
I admire Dr. Shaw for his research and have personally used his lab in diagnosing my son's health problems and the treatments he recommended.
