The most inspirational HE book I've read yet ..., 11 April 2001
By A Customer
The best thing about 'Patchwork' is that it literally shows you how families fit schooling around the needs of their particular families. The astonishing thing is that no two families are alike. They demonstrate how HE can be tailored in an infinite number of ways to suit not only the needs of the children, but the schedules of the parents with great success. The book is Christian in nature, but this should not put non-Christians off.I was trying to figure out how to organise our own 'school' and reading this book allowed me to pick and choose schedules, techniques, and philosophies that appealed to me. It provided me with a starting point, which has to be the most valuable thing you could give a family new to home education. Our copy is now well worn, dog-eared, written-in and coffee-stained as it has been passed around a number of friends considering home education. I may have to buy a new one since I am sure I will refer to it for many years to come!
