Product Description

Synopsis

Beginning with an explanation of the theoretical and practical aspects of meditative traditions in the Chinese martial arts, this book teaches how to cultivate the centre point of the body; how to use the static stance, footwork, and body movement; and how to practice with a partner. In discussing the theories, principles, and practices of the Tai Chi Chuan tradition, the author draws primarily from the teaching of Cai Song Fang, who is famous for his push-hand skills. All practitioners of internal martial arts will gain from reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top book in the field, 1 May 1997
By A Customer
I've reviewed most of the books written on Chi Gung and have taken classes with many fine instructors in New York and California. This is one of the very best books available on the subject. It's particularly well suited to people who want a simple, sensible and effective routine to follow without having to take a lot of esoteric and expensive classes.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent for those interested in the internal martial arts, 12 Jan 1998
By A Customer
An excellent analysis of the internal energy developed in Tai chi. Though not a replacement for the direct teachings of a master, this book can help clarify technical as well as theoretical points. Also a valuable resource for those studying any other style with a strongly developed soft side, such as Wing Chun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on Qi Gong, 16 Mar 2004
The book touches the focal point in Qi Gong, Martial Arts (in my opinion, wheteher internal or external), and Oriental Healing arts. Stillness, and how it can promote every aspect of the human life. Paradoxal, and nevertheless real.
Completely abide to the previous reviews. Noting a different aspect, this book is also well suited for those wishing to extend their Zhan Zhuang studies.

5.0 out of 5 stars tremendous book on standing qigong
This book very effectively describes the way of qi cultivation using an apparently simple qigong technique: simply standing. It would seem easy to do, but it isn't. Read more
