Book Description

The second volume in the highly acclaimed SM Marketplace Series, where realistic characters inhabiting a world built around a slave-based hierarchy confront questions of duty and trust amidst an ambience of pain and eroticism. In this volume, young Robin seeks to become one of the honour-bound and meticulously trained Marketplace slaves, exploring her deepest desires while trying to live up to the standards of her trainer, Chris Parker. With a new short story created especially for this edition, this is a must for all SM readers and fans of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A surprisingly good sequel, 16 May 2004

(REAL NAME)
We all know the oft-told film maxim... the sequel is never as good as the original. When it comes to The Marketplace Series, I find it difficult to agree or disagree with this statement. Robin is a fascinating character; the medium through which Antoniou conveys the psychology behind BDSM, from humble beginnings in the realms of fantasy and phone domination through to the real life situation she now finds herself in. That said, she pales somewhat in comparison to the series' most enigmatic character - Chris Parker. We see him in a different light to the first book; he is more personal and close than the somewhat distant managerial role he plays in the House which is the staging for book One. Once more we have a wonderful piece of erotic fiction and Antoniou's style is unmistakeable. The following books in this series are better, but that doesn't make this particular book bad. It's still the peak of erotic fiction around today and if you haven't got into the books yet, I would advise you to really give them a go. They're not your common or garden porn. If all you are looking for is a quick thrill (no bad thing, but still...) then this series probably isn't for you. It's entertaining, sexy, intelligent and educational. Brava, Ms. Adamson!

4.0 out of 5 stars A deliciously crafted book for all those who like realism, plot and sex with their D/S..., 15 Dec 1998
By A Customer
I must hand it to Laura for creating a truly entertaining story. I enjoyed the tale of one woman's quest to truly become a slave. I certainly appreciated the fact that there is no prince charming to take her to his harem, etc. type nonsense in this story. Once again Chris Parker is in top form as he personally takes the challenge to train her in 2 weeks and from then on as her sponsor/mentor. Not only is she trained she is bought in the marketplace by the most unlikely duo. But I don't want to give away too much but Laura manages to put humor, wickedness and sex together in a delightful manner. The surprise event towards the end of the story makes one think about what it must mean for some to say they are truly prepared to be owned. Enjoy this story of one woman's quest to fill her dream... you'll enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Modern BDSM classic, 17 Feb 2006
The best among the Marketplace books, this novel insightfully describes the psychological aspects of the urge for submission. Intensely intriguing, at times deliciously erotic, and utterly intelligent. A must in any erotic library, along with the other instalments of the Marketplace series.
