5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic, 13 Nov 2001
By D. Morris (Rugby, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am not a beginner to bodybuilding but really a novice and after 6 months of working out and trying to find a book that taught realstic understandable training for muscle growth wihtout the use of steroids and wonder pills etc this certainly gave me everthing I needed to know. Which parts to train, how many times a week, what weights, sets, and lots of different ways to train each body part. It also contains detailed info on nutrition, supplements, CV work and not just for men but this also contains info for women too! After months of ordering books and sending them back because they contained complete rubbish this one is definitley recommended as one to have!
... there is nothing wrong with the stucture, it contains detailed info on building the traps. It does contain some refernces to Frank's life but in small doses and it is used where it might be useful to the person reading. The book contains exercises on a variety of different machines as well as a whole section on how to train from home if you can't get to the gym...

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't believe all these other reviews, this is a mess!!!, 30 Mar 2001
By azzam.al-amin@stud.man.ac.uk (Manchester, England) - See all my reviews
I have just bought this book from amazon and i must say that i was extremely disappointed. i only bought the book because of the brilliant revies evreyone gave it, but when i read it, it was a different story. The book is so poorly structured, gives very vague advice and neglects a very important part of the body completely: the neck. Thats right, there are no neck excercises at all. The gym equipment that is used in this book are so hard to find in the gyms that i've been to.

Also, this book contains a lot of unnecessary waffle about certain situations during Mr. Melfa's body building career. Unfortunatley, many of these situations have nothing to do with bodybuilding.

Overall, i would not recommend this book to anyone, and i am currently looking for a better book on weight training, one that has a better structure and is more to the point.

5.0 out of 5 stars Common sense approach to bodybuilding, answers all questions, 11 April 1999
By A Customer
Frank Melfa's book has helped me tremendously. It answers so many questions about bodybuilding and fitness. I use it like a textbook in college. It shows photo's of the right way to perform the exercises with easy to understand descriptions and guidelines for planning your workouts. I go into the free weight area of the gym now confident that I am doing things right and am no longer intimidated. It teaches faster, more efficient workouts and excellent advice on nutrition. It is a down to earth approach that covers every aspect of bodybuilding. I am eating better, getting good results and growing more confident every day. It's like having your own personal trainer. It has canged the way I work out for the better.
