Irreplaceable tool for a healthy lifestyle, 20 Feb 2005

I first discovered the fast in Germany during my travels, but did not know it had a name. I was modelling & needed to lose weight. Another model gave me the formula, but only knew it "through the grapevine". In Europe, a commercialisation of the fast is available in health food stores. It comes with a little pack of cayenne and directions, but the syrup is a combo of cane & grade B, which is not as good as organic dark Grade B. Several years ago, a company began marketing "Lemon Fast" in health food stores across the U.S. Again, it is the same as the European version. After researching, I discovered the Burroughs foundation in California and ordered several copies of the book from his daughter. I lost, in all, more than 30 pounds over a period of time. I now maintain a vegetarian/mostly vegan lifestyle and cleanse at least twice yearly for 10 days to 2 weeks. My energy is not decreased but instead soars. I am still a professional model. I hand out copies of the book to everyone who is interested and who questions me as to how I stay slim. I cannot tell you how many "normal people" have changed their lives following Mr. Burroughs program. And to think it was written over 50 years ago!! This is one book the drug companies would rather you not have, for sure. It cures everything, including my hypoglycaemia, anaemia, and cravings. It reassures one of the power of the mind and healing ability of the body. Stick with it for at least 10 days and remember, if you cheat, you're only cheating yourself. Good Luck Everyone. *If you feel a wave of nausea or a dizzy spell, it is your body eliminating toxins or passing waste out of your body. DO NOT think it is because you need food. It takes a 24-hr no-food period to begin the cleansing process & eating defeats all the work you've put into it. Breathe deep, and thank yourself for finally cleansing that stuff out. The feeling will pass in a few minutes. You may need to drink an elimination tea that night.
*Try the mixture with lemon/lime combos and try it hot. It's delicious. Carry a small water bottle in your purse/case of the lemonade without water[concentrate]. Add to hot water or plain water at work or restaurants if you find you must accompany others.
*Herbal tea and green tea is allowed, and helps to avoid caffeine headaches from your coffee withdrawal. It also gives you an alternative to the lemonade and keeps you hydrated.
*Stay strong in your mind, focussed on your goal, and don't believe others who tell you you're crazy. They are silently envying your willpower. You don't know until you try.

Yes, of course it works, and you WILL lose weight, 24 Mar 2007
It's basic science. Intake less calories than you're expending, you'll lose weight. On the master cleanse, as your intake is extremely low, you're going to lose weight FAST.
The master cleanse used to be for hippies looking to 'clean out their systems'. Nowadays, we can admit that most of the people embarking on this cleanse, are doing it for a 'quick fix'.
And why not, it really does work. Yes, there are scientists out there who complain that it doesn't supply you with enough nutrients or calories, and although true, in the short term it wont kill you (provided you are reasonably healthy to start with).
All the 'cleansers' out there who are purely doing it for 'detoxing' reasons, that's fair enough, each to his own. I personally haven't ever felt this 'elated' feeling many have spoken of, and I think it is more probable that the cleanse works as a placebo and these feelings of euphoria are purely psychological (and often occur when people starve themselves).
In defence of the 'cleansers', you will eliminate every day on the cleanse despite intaking purely liquids, so you do feel you are giving your colon a good cleanse. Whilst washing away the crap, you will be washing away the healthy bacteria so probiotics are recommended once you finish the cleanse.
As for whether you will keep the weight off, that's an entirely different problem. Anyone going on this cleanse for weight reasons (which I suspect is the majority), be careful as your metabolism will be shot so you either have to exercise more or eat healthily until it's returned back to normal (harder when you're older I would presume).
The book is useful as it gives you all the details you need to carry out this cleanse. Skim all the religious and spiritual dialogue if you're not a 'believer'. Don't bother with the other books out there which are using the master cleanse to make money. This is the original, so this is ALL you will need. Find other info/satisfy your curiosity via the wealth of knowledge (i.e. the internet), particularly the discussion boards.
For anyone going on this cleanse, good luck! I'm on Day 4 and going (reasonably) strong.

Great results, 5 Oct 2007
I've been on this program for over a week now and feel great! Not to mention that I've lost a lot of weight, although that could only be temporary... My skin seems to be smoother and I have the great feeling of being light and well. I must say that it can be difficult to stay on the program and it requires a lot of will power.
I do like the taste of cayenne pepper in my drinks. It makes them more pleasant to swallow ... If you know someone with a serious disease or addiction make them try this program -- it should bring good results. You will be surprised! Another really GREAT book with all kind of internal cleansing methods is "Can We Live 150 Years?". In fact these two books should be sold in one package.
