Product Description

Synopsis

Rather than explaining typical strategies for overcoming fear, this book focuses on examining how fear is experienced, how to recognise that experience as nothing more than conditioned reaction to circumstance, and how to mentor oneself into letting go of beliefs about 'appropriate' responses to fear. The notion is debunked that fear is anything other than a label we have learned to put on a set of physical and emotional responses, which is a Buddhist view of emotion in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read!, 16 Sep 2008
By Nel (UK) - See all my reviews
Well worth a read if fear is at the base of your everyday life and/or you suffer with anxiety etc.

This book provides a different take on fear - it's not an anxiety book in the vein of discussing the physical or medical symptoms (get Claire Weekes 'Self Help for your nerves' for that) it's more discussing it from a 'present moment awareness' angle.

You could say it complements the Claire Weekes book though where the topic of 'acceptance' is discussed as one of the ways through the anxiety minefield. Cheri Huber is talking about exactly this 'acceptance' in this 'The Fear Book'.

I am so pleased to have stumbled across this author I really am. Don't they always say "When the pupil is ready the teacher will appear"?!
