3.0 out of 5 stars not bad, 18 April 2003
By A Customer
not a bad book, combined with the Lonsdale version covers everything you will need to know about the skills of boxing.
This book however will not make you fit despite what it claims but can point you in the right direction regarding self discipline and willpower to help yourself get fit.

1.0 out of 5 stars useless...!, 5 Mar 2008
By Mr. J. Southam - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
i recently bought this book and wish i hadnt...far from being a boxing workout manual it is more a tribute to some far away new york gym (now shut!how sad for the writer) i was really suprised by this and the other reviews. it has some black and white pictures of the gym in question and of some random white collar boxers in occasional instructional poses (although mostly them next to a punchbag, with their name underneath? so what?) it has no detailed list of specific exercises and its overall running advice is do it on a morning followed by nostalgic photos of old friends running around new york!! it really is only a tribute to a gym which must have been much loved by the author and its users. but it is shut and i have never been there and will never go there now. fine if you want a mildly instruction manual that revolves around how awful new gyms are and how great their one was before it was shut down, by the council because of a fire etc... all info from the book by the way. probably the only info it does give you.
dire and titled very wrong...perhaps "we love our old closed gym" would be more appropriate
