One nitpick: Reynolds' preface and occasional in-text rant about the damage we do to our planet are a touch melodramatic...but the chances are anyone reading this book will already be on side. The bulk of the text is very readable and supplemented by crude but clear diagrams. The systems Reynolds proposes are simple and elegant, and most could be applied to any home, not just a custom-built Earthship. Even if you don't decide to rush out and build youor own, this book will make you think twice every time you run the tap or switch on a light. This edition is 10 years old now - I hope that soon a new edition will be commercially viable, with the latest developments included. In the meantime, this is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in sustainable living.
