2.0 out of 5 stars I think the book is a bit lame, 5 Feb 2007
By David Askew - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
When I first opened the book, I saw the text size was pretty big and if you did an hours worth of reading every day of the book with a regular reading speed, it would be finished before two weeks, easily.

There were about 60 lessons to learn in the book, and there were a few things that were interesting; though quite a bit of the time, stuff is repeated. There is not really much of a link, at all infact, between any of the little sections in the book - however, they are organised into, attitude, work, and people.

The selling point, I guess, about this book is that if you look at the front cover you will see a very straight forward colour scheme and "No bull, No frills, No hype", and supposedly you would think, "woah this book is down to earth, I'm going to do myself a favour and get this instead of something that looks more abstract and theoretical". The thing is though, and in a way it slightly amuses me when I think about it; this book is actually one of the most imprecise and fuzzy pieces of writing I've ever seen that is being sold. True, there are no really strange theoretical concepts in the book, but just about the whole book is written and formatted in such a "round about" sort of way and by over two thirds of the way through the book (determined that I was gonna read all of what I bought), I just couldn't take it anymore. I feel as if the person who wrote the book, really doesn't know much about what he's talking about, but he feels that he does.

Okay, as a summary:

I don't recommend buying this book at all. There is little depth about it, and the order and content of the book are not thought out very well. It's basically a collation of probably over 60 little things to learn, of which some are repeated and with every one, you get more and more frustrated by the simplicity and sketchiness of what you've just read.

Yeah, I bet you get the feeling I didn't like the book. However, it would probably be reasonably good reading for a young teenager, beyond that it's repetitive and even silly.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book to dip into in difficult times, 17 Sep 2009
I bought this book about 5 years ago and even now occasionally dip into it whenever I'm feeling down, insecure or otherwise in need of some self help.

This book is not one of those you read from cover to cover only to later forget everything and never look at it again. It's a helpful concoction of short articles no longer than about 3 or 4 pages each which give you practical solutions to overcoming everyday obstacles. It provides common sense solutions and has been good to me in times of need and thus I highly recommend it.
