Product Description

Synopsis

Rowdy, ecstatic, and sometimes stern, these parables reveal new and very human properties in Rumi's vision. Included here are the notorious 'Latin Parts' that Reynold Nicholson felt were too unseemly to appear in English in his 1920s translation. For Rumi, anything that human beings do - however compulsive or ludicrous - affords a glimpse of the inner life.

Another side of Rumi!! Selected with a special understanding of the human condition, Coleman Barks has presented us with a side of Rumi that may shock or even offend (some passages from Arberry's original English translation that were originally only translated into Latin due to the 'sensitive' nature of the content.), but which show a side of the great Master where Humor, Wisdom, and Banality mix to give us teachings that penetrate even our modern 'worldly' existance.
