'There is no word for It' is a collection of transmen's personal stories of their journeys and experiences, of both life and the ultimate process of transistion. Poignant, humorous and intimate, it offers an inside view on the unique experiences encountered by F to M's, their own and others' reactions; the sometimes funny, uplifting, or heartbreaking responses by family, friends and lovers.

This is a wonderful book for so many reasons. The stories are short and accessible, powerfully told, affecting and - importantly- enjoyable. Ultimately uplifting and life-affirming, they demonstrate the sense of personal liberty and empowerment that can be gained through having the courage to make whatever major changes we need in life in order to live our truth. While also letting us in on the frustration and isolation that can be the reality for some prior to the decision to transition. The challenges may be immense, but so are the rewards.

In a culture in which gender-binary is the only accepted norm, it's refreshing to read accounts of the lives of those who themselves fall outside of the 'norm' and find them sane, clear, creative and strong.

If you are close to someone who is considering transitioning, or doing so yourself, this book offers insight, reassurance, and the odd belly laugh. For anyone else- its a great read, and you will definitely learn something! I personally think There Is No Word For It should be on every school, university and library shelf.

I absolutely love 'There Is No Word For It', it is a real gem, every word comes across as completely genuine and from the heart.

I have read the stories several times and they still fascinate me. I shall read them again.

The snapshots of lives it contains really lead to a greater understanding of people who are on a different journey from mine. I am filled with admiration for each and every one of them.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.
