Stephen's inspirational autobiography tells of his struggles and triumphs, and is told with refreshing honesty and infectious humour. With a foreword by Kevin Keegan. His story is truly unique and inspiring' - Kevin Keegan.

About the Author
Stephen Miller was born in 1980 with Cerebral Palsy, a brain condition that makes balance and co-ordination more difficult than usual. One of Britain's most successful athletes, Stephen has won three Paralympic gold medals, plus dozens of other international accolades in the club and discus events, and is endeavouring to win more at London 2012. When not in training, Stephen works as a web developer. He lives in Cramlington, near Newcastle upon Tyne, and supports Newcastle United Football Club.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stephen Miller Paralympian, 14 Jul 2008

We found Stephens book very readable and written with humour and great insight. I am a disabled athlete myself and find Stephen a great role model and athletes either ablebodied or disabled would find him a great example of what hard work and dedication can achieve. I think anyone would enjoy reading this book athlete or not as anyone would appreciate an insiders view of disabilty sport and how difficult it is to achieve at the top level. Stephen takes his sport very seriously but knows how to enjoy life as well and I am sure people would enjoy reading about his life and realise that just because someone is badly disabled it does not mean they don't think and feel and want to achieve as much in their life as anyone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paralympian Legend!, 14 Aug 2008
By Andy B (Newcastle) - See all my reviews
I've just finished reading Stephens book and throughly enjoyed it.

After competing in Athletics at the highest level it is only in recent years that Stephen has gained the recognition that he deserves. This book takes you through a journey of Stephens life, thorough his highs an lows with some very poignant stories and also a large smattering of Stephens infectious humour.

All in all a brilliant read written by a incredibly dedicated sportsman.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the personality..., 16 Jul 2008

You don't have to be an athlete to enjoy this book. Even if you have just a passive interest - i.e. watching athletics on TV - you'll be drawn into this young man's story. I certainly became very involved with Stephen's whole project of becoming a disabled athlete - and then going from strength to strength as he gained more success and won more medals. Even the machines are interesting (the throwing frames and how he learned to use them) but most engaging of all is the man himself - his dedication, his feelings in moments of success and setback, his humour and his honesty.

After his Atlanta gold, he is taken by surprise on being given a civic reception and being invited to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. It's only after all this that he 'started to realise...that winning a Paralympic gold medal was a big deal'! He knows he is a good athlete, improving all the time, but success doesn't go to his head - he sees it as a step towards something even better. What carries the reader along isn't only the bare bones of the story of Stephen's training and Paralympic success; it's the feelings and personality of the man himself. It's the experience which he communicates so well. An excellent read.

James Graham.
