Product Description

Review

'A true and inspiring generosity has been created and sustained over more than two decades in Cornucopia, establishing this unique food destination as one of the iconic Dublin addresses. Cornucopia has fed its customers in many ways, giving us great food that speaks of the concerns of the world and its culinary cultures, and inflecting these concerns with the spirit of the city. Deirdre and the Cornucopia team have achieved something of true, enduring value and Cornucopia at home that achievement.'John McKenna, The Bridgestone Guides'Packed with recipes and detailed information on the ingredients and fuelled by the spirit of the restaurant it comes from Cornucopia at home will be a very useful reference for anyone wanting to create simple, tasty and healthy food at home.'Denis Cotter (Cafe Paradiso, Cork) author of Paradiso Seasons and Wild garlic, gooseberries A... and me'We can all feel privileged to read and use this special cookbook. It not only imparts the exquisite secrets that have been consistently enjoyed at Cornucopia, it also provides insight of how it all came about through Deirdre and Neil's love, dedicated tenacity and, thankfully, a bit of ignorance A...'Marc Michel, Farmer, Organic Life, Wicklow 'This book is the culmination of years of dedication, innovation, courage and commitment to pioneering the health benefits and enjoyment of fresh, naturally produced food. When food was less fashionable, Deirdre persisted with her vision and as a founding member of Good Food Ireland I congratulate her on sharing her passion and ideals for using fresh local artisan produce. We can all delight in cooking with Cornucopia at Home and bring the fruits and experiences of Deirdre and her team into our daily lives.'Margaret Jeffares, Good Food Ireland

5.0 out of 5 stars The best veggie recipe book I've found, 28 Dec 2008
By C. D. Garcia (Dublin, Ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Cornucopia at Home is a fantastic recipe book! I could not disagree more with the previous reviewer. Yes, it has a personal introduction explaining the origins of Cornucopia in Dublin and the lives of those who started it, but that's as much "waffle" (as the reviewer called it) as you are going to get in this book. The rest is probably one of the best recipe books I've ever seen and used!

For those who love Cornucopia in Dublin, they will find plenty of the yummy dishes that they serve: soups, salads, main courses, deserts... It is a must have for people with food allergies, as recipes come with plenty of advice on what each recipe contains, and how to alter the ingredients to make it suitable for each case.

The recipes are delicious and easy to make. The chickpea casserole, for instance, is ridiculously easy and so delicious you'll be delighted it comes in a recipe for four people. Also, the book is packed with suggestions on how can you create new recipes from that particular one you're reading. So, for every recipe fully explained, maybe there's four alternatives that you can try... which is extra recipes for free! Moreover, it comes with loads of small tips on how to improve your diet or even get your own sprouts!

There's only one thing I'll give the previous reviewer: the bedtime reading. I love flicking its pages before going to bed, looking at those lush pictures. Thinking of how I'm going to delight my guests (or myself!) with a new, lovely veggie meal gives me the best of dreams.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cornucopia Cookbook, 2 April 2009
By Paula Preedy "Paula" (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a really good vegetarian cookbook. It's really well organised with lovely pictures inside. There's also info on how the Cornucopia restaurant came into existence and that's also really interesting. I would recommend this cookbook. Also the ingredients seem to be mainly what you would already have at home, nothing too fancy. There are also allocated spaces for you to write your own notes when making the recipes which is really handy. I made a note to slightly alter the amount of liquid used in one of the recipes I made and it was good that there was a space to do it, not just to scribble on the side!

5.0 out of 5 stars the best ever cooking book, 12 Jul 2009
By M. Susi - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Me and my friend were in Dublin for a short holiday when we discovered Cornucopia food. We ate there every day! Couldn't believe how good the food was, more so as we are not vegetarians/vegans. Now I'm the proud owner of their book and can confirm that ALL recipes work 100% and i do recommend it to everyone who likes eating healthy and feel good. Looking forward to their next cookery book already!
