Product Description

Jonny Kennedy was the star of the unforgettable Emmy award-winning documentary 'The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off'. He was an extraordinary character determined to live an ordinary life despite being born with the agonising condition Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), which meant that his skin could literally fall off at the slightest touch. It was a daily struggle he faced with courage, determination and wit, offering inspiration to millions around the world. Tragically, Jonny was just 36 when he lost a final battle to skin cancer. This is his moving, honest and uplifting story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very moving read........, 20 May 2009
By Mrs. H. E. Jones "esmereldapingpong" (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A very moving read and a must for anyone who has seen or heard of Jonny Kennedy. This is a 'no holds barred' account of Jonny's life and the effect his condition had on his immediate family. The unsung hero in this book is Jonny's mother, Edna and nothing can have prepared her for a very different form of family life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tear-jerking and heart-warming, 25 Sep 2007
If you ever had the good fortune to see the TV documentary The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off then you will never have been able to forget Jonny Kennedy. This book was written over several years before the documentary and tells his full story from birth to his early death at just 36. Obviously Jonny died during the making of the documentary, but Jonny's friend Roger has finished the book off for him, and he has done a great job. Like the documentary it is both tear-jerking and heart-warming. Jonny is such an inspirational character that after reading his story you can't fail to be moved. Jonny's mum has also written a chapter, as has Jonny's friend, the model Nell McAndrew who starred in the documentary. Anyone who saw the documentary should read this book to find out what happened before and after the cameras were rolling, and read the full story of this remarkable life. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars inspirational, 14 Nov 2007
By david watts (newcastle) - See all my reviews
Having seen the documentary, I was keen to read this book. It fills in the gaps, giving so much more information about Jonny that the film didn't have time for. His character comes across brilliantly and there were times when I could practically hear his voice and laughed along with his sense of humour. Of course the book also covers all the traumatic elements to Jonny's life.
This is a brilliant read and if you are prepared for the inevitable, it is an insightful journey well worth taking.
