Synopsis
This important work refutes the theory that Jesus died to pay the penalty of death. Rather, the author shows how the Bible contends that Jesus died without sin, in perfect holiness, paying the debt of righteousness as an offering and sacrifice sufficient for all. The author reasons against the notion that God judged His Son guilty for our sins and punished Him in our place. On the contrary, far from being the embodiment of sin upon the cross (as is often stated), it is the conviction of the author that Jesus died as 'The Lord Our Righteousness'. Reliant upon Scripture throughout, cross-referenced and examined in context, it is shown that God's act of justice was not the crucifixion but the resurrection, when the Father overturned the verdict of an earthly court - raising His Son to a position of heavenly glory. The book contains spiritual insights and explanations for the crucifixion of Christ that are as challenging and demystifying for readers today as the original Gospel was to the people of the first century. Anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Christ's sacrifice will be enlightened.
