Product Description

Book Description

6.57...three numbers that are synonymous with the dark world
of football hooliganism.

The 6.57 crew were the violent faction that attached itself to Portsmouth
Football Club during the 1980's and reeked havoc the length and breadth of
the country.

After serving their apprenticeship in the lower leagues, the crew made the
step up and were ready to take on the might of The Bushwackers, Headhunters
and Soul Crew.

This book is an insight into the formation of the crew and the events that
made it one of the most feared in the country. Told through actual reports,
the words of crew members and over 300 previously unseen photographs this
book is one of the most complete records of an English hooligan firm.

From the Publisher

'6.57' is the third book by author John Payne. His previous
title's 'The Pompey Boys' and 'The Park' both received critical acclaim. He
specializes in large format pictorial books that are unique in the football
genre'.

What next? The story of Yeovil's notorious hooligan crew, with a photo of a scythe on the cover? The 6.57 were by far the most overrated of any of the so-called crews. In actual fact, when they weren't getting beaten up, they spent most of the time running away from other lower league "firms", although you won't find truth like that getting in the way of the author's fantasies. This book is the usual ranting of a loud-mouthed braggart. There are MANY much better books on this subject about real firms. If you want to read about the real thing in much better written books, rather than this unreadable garbage about country yokels, buy "Scally: Confessions of a Category C Football Hooligan" or "After the Match the Game Begins", both available from amazon.
