Mr Tottenham Hotspur provides a fascinating insight into one of football's greatest-ever managers, the late Bill Nicholson OBE, who died in October 2004, aged 85. Although he won England caps as a full-Back, Nicholson is best remembered as the manager whose Spurs team became the first English club in post-war history to win the League Championship and FA Cup double in 1961, setting records that are still unbeaten. He went on to lead Tottenham to European glory in 1963, the first English club to win European honours. Of the 16 trophies the famous North London club has won, Billy Nick was involved in nine of them. Mr Tottenham Hotspur looks back through the life and times of Nicholson, a dour Yorkshireman whom Spurs fans believe deserved a knighthood. The book reflects on how Bill did more than anybody to establish Spurs as a club famed throughout the football world in the 60s and 70s for its style, panache and glory. Spurs legend Steve Perryman contributes a poignant foreword and there are also heart-warming tributes from a long list of Tottenham greats and past favourites, including Jimmy Greaves, Terry Venables, Cliff Jones, Pat Jennings and Glenn Hoddle.Sir Alex Ferguson heads a star cast of rival managers who pay tribute to Bill, while friends and family of Tottenham's greatest manager, members of the media and supporters from all over the world, also provide anecdotes and personal memories of a genuine giant of the game.
