Product Description

Book Description

More uplifting, touching and great laugh-out-loud fun.
A story of friendship, flirtations, family, football fanaticism, faith and lots of other words beginning with ‘F’ !

Steve Bottomley, a disaffected youth who doesn’t want to be categorised, is back! More gloriously gritty, glad-making stories in this the long-awaited
follow up to J R Endeacott’s very popular ‘One Northern Soul’.

‘Talking of not getting any, Dave frequently was – not getting
any and frequently talking about it.’

‘… something would go wrong, this was Leeds after all; the
city was like the football team: once great, majestic, unpredictable,
even unlucky, now in certain ways, on its knees.’

‘I’d never seen so much facial hair, so many denims and leathers, chains and tattoos in all my life. And God knows what the men looked like.’

‘It’s about never giving in, always supporting the team and … well, supporting each other.’

From the Publisher

This is even more entertaining than Endeacott's 'One Northern Soul'. Endeacott's writing has matured whilst never losing any of its youthful charm and chuckle-making. Suitable for mid-teens and upwards, and suitable for all readers of quality humorous writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read., 14 Nov 2005

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you're a football fan, music fan or were in Leeds in the early-mid 1980's this is a must read. If you are all of the above then you'll be in literary heaven.

The author, JR Endeacott, has totally nailed the feelings of the times and not fallen into the revisionist history we so often encounter with nostalgia pieces.

Really looking forward to a volume 3 in the world of Steve Bottomley.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Leeds, very funny, 27 Jul 2005
Having read Roberts first book , No More Heroes is a great step up especially in terms of its humour and made a great lazy Sunday afternoon read.
This time i dont think you need to know/come from Leeds to appreciate the earthy humour and the opening A-Z of illnesses is a great start which deserves a wider audience.
The book flows nicely and id recommend it to anyone who has fond memories of growing up in the 80s in any City.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hweoically entertaining/different/original, 10 Aug 2005

Funnier than One Northern Soul and definitely not just a football book, though the beautiful game (the following & playing of) does appear.

This is a great book, trust me. Can't wait for the next one!

Essential reading for not just Leeds fans, but anyone who grew up in the eighties and loved football.
Steve lives within spitting distance (not literally) of Elland Road. Read more
