5.0 out of 5 stars In Quest of the Lost Legions Varusschlacht, 10 Sep 2004
A fascinating read mixing history, archeological discoveries, and historical fiction. This book is skillfully written in such a way as to make history come alive. Tony Clunn brings the reader along with him as he peels back the pages of time with one find after another. As a resident of New Ulm, Minnesota,USA, home of a statue of "Hermann the German," I have a new found appreciation of the significance of the Roman defeat at the hands of Arminius in 9 AD. Those with whom I have had a chance to show the book, which I received while at the museum dedicated to the battle in Kalkriese, Germany, are looking forward to getting their own copies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quest for the legions read by a serving soldier, 13 May 2006
A thrilling read,I just couldn't put it down. The book describes how it might have happened, and i don't think he's too far from the truth, his version of the 4 days of fighting is very realistic. after seeing the area around the site, you can feel for all those who died, and can imagine how hard it was! It is very informative about how he came to find the first of many coins, and further finds.

This was my first autobiography i have read and it won't be my last. If you ever get the chance of visiting Germany after reading this book you will want to see the museum and experience the atmosphere of Kalkraise.

If anybody is intrested about the Lost Legions this is a book I would highly recommend.
