Product Description

Book Description

The Knuckle End is an anthology of some of the best new writers in Scotland. It is the first collection dedicated to graduates of the now famous University of Glasgow postgraduate creative writing course. The programme, unique in Scotland, has helped launch the careers of writers like Louise Welsh, Zoe Strachan and Anne Donovan. This anthology features these authors and some outstanding new talent. Many of these new writers have recently secured deals with major publishers and will undoubtedly become important voices of Scottish literature in years to come.

From the Author

A meaty collection featuring the best new writers in Scotland

‘you will find this book contains a lot of tasty mental nourishment, some of it succulent’
Alasdair Gray

5.0 out of 5 stars The cream of new Scottish writing, 16 Sep 2004
The book itself is a work of art, a unique design combining two books in one. The typesetting is stylish and attractive, the images provoking.

The stories and poems are uniformly excellent. Some are from already published authors (Louise Welsh, Zoe Strachan, Anne Donovan etc) some from soon-to-be published authors (Nick Brooks, Rodge Glass) and some from should-be published authors.

Witty and gritty, a meaty read
