This shiny bright gold (which you lack to see in the image) book of Chris Ofili's work The Upper Room is more like an object of desire then just a book.

The writing which accompanies the images throughout is written by Dr Susanna Paisley. She is concise and fills your mind with wonderful facts about the nature and history of the Rhesus Macaque, which will certainly put a smile on your face, but leave you with wanting to know more I found.

The images of Ofili's paints are on a full page each. The images are of them when they were in the instillation. So you can fully see how the work was represented in the gallery space, there are lots of images at the back of the book showing the construction through to the show. The only thing you can't get from this book is the magnificent smell of the cow dung stands the paintings were on when this work was on show.

This book is great for people who are interested in Chris Ofili's work or are passionate about monkeys.

Overall a nice simple book to have on your book shelf which will make you happy on a grey day with the delightful colours.
