Product Description

Book Description

At the time of his death from leukaemia in 1972, aged 30, Tony Ray-Jones had already made an indelible mark on photography. He created a body of work of the English at leisure that influenced a generation of photographers. This authoritative monograph, produced in association with the National Museum of Photography and accompanying its major new touring exhibition, introduces the best of his photographs - many previously unpublished and beautifully reproduced from revealing new prints - with original documents and artefacts from the museum's Ray-Jones archive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb book, 17 Aug 2009
By andysnap (UK) - See all my reviews

This book is part biography, part photo book, and quite superb. Tony Ray-Jones died young, after only three years of working as a photographer, yet had a fascinating life and personality. Russell Roberts gives a complete biography of his life, with background from those who knew him. The selection of photographs gives a fine overview of his work. An essential book, and not too expensive either. Buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tony Ray Jones, 16 Jul 2009
By Mr. B. F. C. O'sullivan (`beckenham Kent) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is an impressive book. It`s a good size and a good insight into his work. As the book progresses you get full page prints of his works which are clear and precise and do the work justice. He has a real `nod` the the Cartier Bresson school of thought and proves that this type of Photography can be hot anywhere, even in your backyard !
Excellent
