4.0 out of 5 stars Active Again, 7 Oct 2002
By Dr Richard Smith (Newbury, UK) - See all my reviews
One woman's struggle against a debilitating condition which then triggered others resulting in immobilising illness over nearly ten years. The author, Heather Stott and husband Colin, tried to unravel the root causes and eventually succeeded - the treatment and approach should be required reading for every medical student. Not only is this an object lesson in determination and how to tackle the impossible yourself but it is a sad indictment of the UK medical profession - their lack of sympathy and apparent inability to apply scientific method. The case was very complicated but eventually one doctor took it on and together Heather became Active Again. I wonder how many people are in a similar situation?

4.0 out of 5 stars Regaining a life, 14 Nov 2002
By Valerie Spinks (Beverley, England) - See all my reviews
The story of Heather's eight and a half years struggle against illness and her determination to find a cure and regain her health, despite many setbacks, is an inspiration. The narrative is straightforward and easy to read and understand. I am certain this book will be of enormous encouragement to others with similar symptoms and hopefully they too will persist in searching for a cure. It illustates just how difficult some illnesses can be to diagnose and to find the right treatment. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars My first "glimmer of hope", 13 Jul 2004
By Jill Botham (Beverley, East Yorkshire) - See all my reviews
Having read Heather's book several times, I can conclude that this is my first glimmer of hope. Having experienced many of the symptoms which Heather has mentioned (although my problems have not been as severe or as varied as Heather's), I now feel able to tackle these.

Thank you Heather for a most enlightening book, I am sure it will encourage many other people to find the cause of their symptoms and fight their way back to health.
